Harry's Wondrous World

Went to the Harry Potter Studio Tour for the second time in January this year. Had to go again to see all the festive decorations and everything covered in snow.
Naturally I painted some nails for the occasion, this time theming each nail with one of the films. On my right hand I have the Philospher's Stone, the snake fang and diary from Chamber of Secrets, the time turner from Prisoner of Azkahban, the Triwizard cup from Goblet of Fire and a dark mark.
On my left hand I have Umbridge's quill from Order of the Phoenix, liquid luck from Half Blood Prince, Xenophilius's Deathly Hallows necklace, the elder wand and 'Harry Potter' in gold.
It's not so visible in these pics but I also added some white glitter to the Harry Potter nail to make it look like snow.
Had such a magical time at the studios! Have even visited once more since then and can't wait to go again!

There and Back Again

Finally read The Hobbit for the first time earlier this year! The book was given to me for Christmas so I decided to paint my nails to match.
On my left hand I painted the illustrations from the front cover of the book. On my right hand I have selected parts of Thror's map.
Handy tip: don't paint too many thick layers when applying the top coat as it can make the varnish lift from the nail and peel off. I learned this the hard way with the compass nail on my right hand.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading the book, obviously much better than the films. Although I am looking forward to the release of the extended edition of Battle of Five Armies coming soon...

Sparkly new year!

Happy new year 2015! Might be nearly the end of it by now but here's my New Year's Eve nails I painted last year.
I used a mixture of Barry M's gold and silver glitters with a coat of their diamond glitter gold and silver varnishes on top for extra large sparkles.
Didn't complete my left hand but managed to get Big Ben and fireworks on there.
Not long now until the next new year celebrations!

Christmas in the trenches

Started last year's Christmas festivities with this Winter Wonderland nail as I was visiting with some friends. It's definitely become an awesome annual tradition to visit every year now.

Then came the annual advent nails. Unfortunately I got sick around Christmas and couldn't complete them so I may come back to this theme this year.
These are all Christmas film advent nails:

The only one I completed on this hand was Home Alone, slightly ironic.

These are my completed advents for this hand; Die Hard with the quote 'Now I have a machine gun, ho ho ho!', Kermit from a Muppets Christmas Carol and Buddy's legs from Elf.

(Also in the background of these are my Christmas Tree 2.0 leggings from Black Milk Clothing, they're so fun and festive!)

Looking forward to fun festivities and lots more glittery nail art this year!

Harley Halloween

Harley Quinn was my Halloween costume for my party last year so I had to paint some matching nails for it. Unfortunately only had time to complete the one hand.
These are based on the Batman cartoon series of Harley which is my favourite and I've always wanted to dress up as a version of her.

Here's my complete costume and make-up:

The dress and leggings are blackmilkclothing.com and the collar is handmade my me!
Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to top that for Halloween this year...

All Hallows' nails

Just some quick black and orange Halloween nails to match my awesome Black Milk Clothing pumpkin patch skater dress.
From left to right I've painted a haunted house, eyes, a pumpkin, a spider web, a spider, bats, a wolf and moon, a cat, a ghost and a witch on her broomstick.
This is my favourite time of year so can't wait to get in the mood with some Halloween films, candy and outfits! And of course lots more nail art designs...

More detailed pic of my favourite Halloween dress:

Their faces are so cute!

Guardians of the nails

Painted these for the DVD release of Guardians of the Galaxy. Unfortunately became a bit too busy selling it to complete this set of nails.
My plan for these was to dedicate each nail to a certain character. These ones are Drax's tattoos, Peter Quill aka Starlord's mix tape, mini Groot and the orb.
Will hopefully do a Marvel mix with an improved version of these soon.

Happy 100th 🎉

A year ago today was my granny's 100th birthday and we threw her a big party for all the family, so naturally I had to commemorate it on my nails. It was also my great aunt Mollie's 90th so they had a joint party.
The 100 and 90 are balloons. I also added a glittery 'Happy Birthday', a champagne glass, flowers, a present and a birthday cake.
They've both just celebrated their 101st and 91st birthdays with many more to come...

Tattoo time

Painted these for London Tattoo Convention 2014. A great weekend of checking out artist's work from all over the world. Plus lots of Sailor Jerry's of course.
On my left hand I have 'Sailor Jerry', a nautical star, an apple, a knife and dice. On my right hand I have a diamond, a knuckle duster, cherries, a rose and lucky playing cards.
Just painted my tattoo nails for the 2015 convention last week, will hopefully get this blog up to date and the pics on here soon.

Best of the 00's

Last year at hmv we had a decades promotion for a month, showcasing some of the best films and their soundtracks from each decade. Some of us even dressed up as characters, actors or singers from those decades. I painted these for our 00's decade.
On my left hand I have the hmv logo, Gladiator, the Joker from the Dark Knight, Ron Burgandy from Anchorman and the spinning top from Inception.
On my right hand is 00's, the sword from Kill Bill, the puppet from Saw, a glittery hat from Moulin Rouge and the Transformers logo.
Was a fun month of dress up at work, my characters included Princess Leia for the 70's and Hermione from Harry Potter (with my Black Milk Marauder's Map dress) for the 00's:

Sex. Clothes. Popularity. Whatever.

These are some very quick nails I painted to match my 90's outfit during our decades promotion at work last year. I went with a Clueless theme so had to go with some pink tartan and glitter to match my outfit.
Lines are a bit messy as I drew them all freehand. Polishes used are Models Own 'Pink Veneer', Maybelline 'Fuschia', Models Own 'White Light', Barry M 'Duchess' and Barry M 'Fairy Lights'.

The first and the last

These were painted in August last year, which not only marked my godson William's 1st birthday but also the end of an era as I left my house of three years and moved on to pastures new.
On my left hand are the birthday nails with Happy 1st Birthday written across them in balloons with added glitter using Barry M Yellow Topaz Glitter.
On my right hand are Disney kings and queens nails to match our leaving party theme as we lived on Kings Grove in Queens Road Peckham. From left to right I have Simba from the Lion King, Elsa's crown from Frozen, the Queen of Hearts crown from Alice in Wonderland, King Triton's crown and trident from the Little Mermaid and the evil queen's crown from Snow White.
Had a great time at both parties and look forward to many more birthdays and house parties to come...

Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs

Painted these for my birthday outing to the Harry Potter Studio Tour last year. I wore my Black Milk Clothing Marauders Map dress so naturally I had to paint some of my nails to match.
On my left hand I have HP in the Harry Potter font, a golden snitch, the Deathly Hallows symbol, the Hogwarts logo and Harry's scar and glasses. On my right hand I have various parts of the Marauders Map, including footprints and a sign saying Harry Potter on the thumb.
To get the texture for my right hand I used a cream base and stippled over it using Kiko no.369 Light Ochre.
Here's another close-up of my nails fitting into the map on the dress:

Had such a great day, was one of my best birthdays yet. Definitely plan on visiting again soon!

Black Milk Disney

Painted these for Black Milk Clothing's Disney release last year. They are definitely my favourite place to shop for amazingly geeky, shiny goodness with their huge range of leggings, dresses, swimsuits etc.
Each nail represents a different item from their Disney collection. On my left hand I have a mixed Black Milk and Disney logo, the Queen of Hearts shooter, Hakuna Matata skirt, We're All Mad Here swimsuit and the Snow White swimsuit. On my right hand I have the Snow White peplum skirt, Vintage Alice skater dress, Mermemerald leggings, Painting the Roses Red skirt and Under the Sea leggings.
I am now the proud owner of four Disney Black Milk items and hope to keep adding to my awesome collection!

A Game of Comic Cons

These nails were painted for London Film and Comic Con at Earls Court last July. I had planned to meet Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) and other members of the Game of Thrones cast but due to oversold tickets and crazy overcrowding I never made it inside.
On my left hand I have the LFCC logo in Lannister colours, the house Arryn sigil, a red Starl sigil, the Baratheon sigil and the Reed sigil. On my right hand I have a cup of wine, the Tyrell sigil, a red rose, the Martell sigil and the Lannister sigil. Each nail was painted for a specific character attending the convention.
Luckily my friend made it in the following day and got my season 3 DVD signed by Lena for me!

Will be booking tickets in advance this year!

For Those About To Rock...

Painted these for Sonisphere Festival last July. Was an epic weekend with an awesome line-up, from what I can remember amidst my drunken haze.
On my left hand I have the Sonisphere logo, The Prodigy logo, Iron Maiden logo, Alice In Chains logo and a skull. On my right hand I have the classic devil horns metal salute, Slayer logo, Limp Bizkit logo, Deftones logo and Metallica logo.
It's a shame the festival isn't on this year as it's one of my favourites to go to. Fingers crossed for next year...

Wimbledon

Last summer I had the opportunity to go to Wimbledon for the day and as it's extremely hard to get tickets I couldn't pass it up. Managed to catch a few of the smaller matches and spent a lot of the day on Henman hill (or Murray mound) with Pimms and strawberries.
On my left hand I have the Wimbledon logo, a strawberry dipped in cream, the British flag, Pimms with an orange slice and a picnic blanket.
On my right hand I have a rain cloud, a tennis shoe, a tennis ball, a tennis racquet and a tennis court.
Luckily chose a day with lovely hot weather and enjoyed the sun (even though I would've welcomed some rain by the end of the sweltering hot day).

We all scream for ice cream!

It's about time I get my blogs up to date and although it's been over 6 months, I've still been painting my nails whenever I can which means I have many updates.
To start things off here are some quick ice cream flavour nails I painted in the height of the hot summer in June last year. Using mostly Barry M nail colours here I have chocolate, mint, blueberry, toffee and vanilla with sprinkles.
As I was just starting more hours at work at this time I only completed the one hand of nails.
